A member from CAFOD kindly came into our school today to speak to everyone and explain how we all might be able to help by taking part in the 'give it up Lent challenge'
John McCorkell, who runs disability awareness days for schools,visited our school today and led an assembly.
The theme this year is 'All Different, All Equal.' Mr Phillips held a whole school assembly to help our children understand how important it is that everyone feels valued and included in our school.
World Diabetes Day falls every year on 14th November and is a day when millions of people around the world come together to raise awareness of diabetes, and what it’s really like to live with the condition.
This year, the STRAND Network school council project is around the theme of 'Equality and Diversity'. Yesterdays initial meeting was about defining the terms " equality" and "diversity" so that we could establish a collective definition.

Y3 enjoyed listening to John and learning respect for disabled people on Disability Day.
We looked a the death masks of lots of Ancient Egyptian pharaohs and then we made our own!
We learned about the Egyptian pyramids and made them for both History and Maths.

St Benedict's children have been visiting the residents for several months and on each visit they all take part in a different activity. The children and residents have shared stories.
As a reward for all the children working so hard this term, they chose a film to watch and everyone had a lovely relaxing morning!
Congratulations to the three winners of this times assessments; they each received a reward for improving their scores by the highest number.Well done to everyone else as everyone improved on their scores from last times results.
Part of Y6's History topic this term was learning all about the Victorians. They visited Croxteth Hall and got to dress up and play the role of a child during these times.The children had a fabulous morning.
A big thank you to James for coming in this week, the kids have thoroughly enjoyed your sessions and at the same time you have definitely made them think!We are sure the messages you have passed to our children will stay with them and help them stay safe.
What an amazing time everyone had watching this performance, the show was absolutely fantastic and the childrens behaviour throughout was excellent!
Year 6 were lucky enough to be invited to watch this years show ' The Little Mermaid' the show was amazing and Year 6's behaviour was impeccable throughout the performance.
Yesterday Year 6 held an election for their School Council representatives. Seven children put their name forward and wrote their own election speeches. We hope you enjoy looking at the photographs & video.
Year 6 have been learning all the skills that is needed to be a good playleader: being a great role model,always doing the right thing,being kind and helping other children.
Andrew Glennan came into our class and spoke to the children about how they can become an author and gave them advice on how they can improve their own writing. He said that it was Roald Dahl who had inspired him to become a writer.
Year 6 are learning all about electricity this term and how it has changed our lives over the years.

Y3 recently visited Veolia Recycling Centre to find out what happens to our recycled waste. The more we recycle, the less rubbish we make and the more we are helping to save the Earth.
Y3 went to the World Museum in Liverpool to learn all about Ancient Egypt. We made a mummy and touched REAL ancient Egyptian artefacts. We had such a great day!
Y3 were invited to Bootle Town Hall by Councillor Carla Thomas when we wrote letters about the problem of litter in our community.

Y3 have been learning all about the Ancient Egyptians. We looked at lots of different death masks from Ancient Egypt and then made our own version of the death mask of Pharaoh Tutankhamun.

At the start of life in juniors,Y3 looked at the word Respect.What does it mean and how can we show respect to others?
Y3 looked at the words of St.Paul as to how we can make a happy St Benedict's family.We chose our favourite of the points made by St.Paul and wrote it on a bookmark to remind us.

Y4 looked fantastic in their crazy clothes to celebrate Roald Dahl's 100th birthday.Here we are doing the BFG's dream mixing and composing our own weird and wonderful dreams.We also filled a dream jar with our hopes and dreams for the future.
All year 5 children took part in this Crucial Crew Event. Many of the local services were there giving the children advice on keeping safe and their role in the community. These included, The Police, The Fire and Rescue Service, The Transport Police.
Everyone had an amazing time at Kingswood this year, the children's behaviour,manners and team spirits was OUTSTANDING!
Year 6 took part in a reflection day at Lowe House in St. Helens to celebrate finishing their Faith in Action Pin Award.They had to complete 20 hours of service to others.
Year 6 have all worked so hard up to their SATs. As a reward they were treated to a visit to the cinema and Mcdonald's for lunch. Everyone had a great time! A big thank you to the PFSA who helped out with some of the cost.

To help celebrate World Book Day this year, Year 6 decided to hold a class vote on their favourite book; it was down to five books with War Horse being the overall winner.

In this lesson, Year 6 students learn't the story of Edward Jenner and his amazing discovery of the first vaccine; they learn't how exposure to relatively harmless microbes can protect us from deadly ones.

Year 6 were asked to write their own scary story; to help improve their writing and help with their imagination, Miss O'Malley decorated their classroom up with lots of different scary objects!

Year 6 visited Netherton Library to experience a Shakespearean Workshop.
Year 6's challenge was to help organise and arrange the school hampers for the Harvest Festival to give to people who do not have as much food as us.
Today was Lego Day in school.We were really excited to welcome Lego experts into our school; they worked with the all the children in the hall, building with Lego. All classes from Reception to Year 6 were involved . It was a great day!
We had a wonderful afternoon performing for all the people who helped us so we could go to Young Voices and perform!
World Book Day 2016 was launched with an assembly celebrating our favourite books. Everyone came in their pyjamas and slippers clutching their favourite teddies! During the day, we all got to spend time in our magical story tent and read our books.
We are incredibly proud of our school choir who performed with Young Voices at Manchester Arena on Tuesday 1st March. They showed great commitment in learning a huge repertoire of songs over six months,
Today St Benedicts were lucky enough to have a visit from a world class athlete, he is a middle distance runner specialising in the 1500m. He has represented Great Britain many times at junior and senior level on the track.
Y4 & Y5 all gave 100% and worked very hard at each event!
For the past seven weeks year 6 children have been attending this club, the children have been encouraged to read a broad and varied selection of reading material provided by Children's University. Here's some pictures of their day at Lakeside!

Mary's Meals provides some of the poorest children with every day school essentials. St Benedict's children and staff were asked if they could donate an item to be put into a back pack. A big thank you to everyone for their generosity!
