In History, we have been studying the explorers Christopher Columbus and Neil Armstrong. The children have learned about the journeys of these explorers and their different methods of travel. Our Design and Technology work has linked to this as the children had the opportunity to design and make their own rocket. They first worked at home to use junk modelling materials to create the base shape of their rocket. They had to think about what they wanted it to look like and choose appropriate materials. They then brought the rockets into school and explored how they could make the structure stronger using papier mache. Once the rocket was strong, the children painted the rockets and were very proud of the finished product.
