International Day of the Girl
Wednesday 11th October was 'International Day of Girl.' Mr Phillips explained that in the past girls have not always been treated the same as boys and told the story of Emmeline Pankhurst and the suffragettes. Some of the girls told us what jobs they would like to do...
International Day of Older People
On the 1st of October it was International Older Persons day. We celebrated this in school by inviting our grandparents in to talk to the children about their lives. They discussed the advantages and disadvantages and also talked about how different life is now.
School Council Equality & Diversity
This year, the STRAND Network school council project is around the theme of 'Equality and Diversity'. Yesterdays initial meeting was about defining the terms " equality" and "diversity" so that we could establish a collective definition.
Disability Awareness Day
John McCorkell, who runs disability awareness days for schools,visited our school today and led an assembly.
Dementia Awareness
Our school is dedicated to help raise awareness of Dementia in our community. The children in Years 2-6 have been involved in sessions which were delivered by Sister Moira, today all our parents were invited into school to have the same training.
Alder Hey Assembly
Today our school welcomed a member of staff from Alder Hey Hospital and their mascot Oli, it was to thank one of our very thoughtful pupils who raised over £340 in December, they talked about how every penny raised helps poorly children.
